BSP

Bureau de la Sécurité Privée

As specified in the Québec Private Security Act, all companies or persons whose business activities include, “searching for persons, information or property, particularly searching for information on an offence or collecting information on the character or conduct of individuals” must possess both agency and individual investigation licenses issued by the Bureau de la sécurité privée (BSP). Offering internal or harassment investigation services? An investigation licence is required by the individuals involved as well as their company. Operating an intelligence gathering and analysis service? An investigation licence is required by the individuals involved as well as their company. Offering fraud investigation services? An investigation licence is again required by the individuals involved as well as their company. In addition to ensuring that individuals and companies are operating lawfully, the BSP licencing process assures that the company and persons offering the investigation services are ethical and competent and that they possess the required liability insurance to operate.
